The Wood Fired Sandstorm Tea Pot was made by hand on the potters wheel, and naturally glazed with wood ash as a result of the firing process. This tea pot was fired for seven days, by a crew of ten people, in a large wood fired anagama kiln, and is a beautiful demonstration of different amounts of ash hitting bare clay and moving around the piece, reacting to the different surfaces and changes of direction. The alterations in color are defined by this movement of atmosphere and wood ash through the kiln, which deposits itself as glass on the surface of the pot. As it deposits in layers with every addition of wood to the kiln, it builds up unevenly across the varying surfaces of the pot and creates a wonderful assortment of colors and textures.
